Snow resorts

Romania
Almost a third of the country’s territory is occupied by the Carpathians, which are the second largest mountain range in Europe after the Alps. The only difference is that the Carpathians are not as high as the Alps. On the territory of Romania, the Carpathians are divided into three main groups – the Eastern Carpathians, the Western Carpathians and the Southern Carpathians. A series of these mountains is an ideal place for winter sports, and a whole chain of resorts, most of which are located in the Southern Carpathians, gives winter recreation lovers an opportunity to spend their leisure time well. The main ski resorts in Romania are the resorts of Sinai, Poiana Brasov and Predeal.
Resort Sinai. This resort is located at the foot of the mountains Piatra Aree and Fournik, it is sometimes called the “Pearl of the Carpathians” and there is every reason for this. There are 12 ski slopes with a total duration of 15 kilometers. The tracks are equipped with a two-stage funicular, chairlifts and several rope tows. From the capital, Bucharest, the distance to the resort is 130 kilometers.
Sinaia resort
Resort Poiana Brasov. This small town is located at an altitude of 1030 meters at the foot of the Postevaru Mountains. The resort is a large sports complex, which serves two Swiss gondola lifts, as well as several chairlifts and drag lifts. The total length of the ski slopes is about 14 kilometers. Poiana Brasov is the country’s busiest high-mountain resort. There is a well-developed infrastructure, many cheap hotels and country-style villas. Also, holidaymakers have the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Romania – the city of Brasov, which is located 13 kilometers from the resort.
Resort Predeal. At an altitude of 1160 meters above sea level, between the mountains of Bayului and Bucegi, the city of Predeal is located. Snow lays here for a hundred days a year. The ski slopes are well equipped and lighted, which makes it possible to ski in the evening.
Serbia
Resort Kopaonik. The resort’s mountain range is covered with snow from late November to early May. The favorable climate in combination with sunny days makes this resort attractive for winter holidays. Thanks to 200 sunny days a year, this resort is also called the “Mountain of the Sun”. There are trails for beginners and experienced skiers. At night, the trails are covered. The thickness of the snow cover is 120 centimeters. The tourist season starts in November and ends in March.
The ski slopes are equipped with single and double seats lifts. Each peak is equipped with a local drag lift. The total length of the tracks is 60 kilometers. The longest track has a length of 3.5 kilometers. The resort has a ski school. The highest point for skiing is the top of Mount Panchichev at an altitude of 2017 meters. Also in the resort there are several trails for cross-country skiing with a total length of 20 kilometers.
Montenegro
This country is rich in mountain ranges and canyons. Among the largest canyons can be counted Moracha canyon, which after the California canyon takes second place. Thanks to its favorable relief conditions for skiers, this is a real paradise. The most famous ski resort is Zabljak resort, which is located on the Durmitor mountain range. Its highest point is Mount Bob Cook, located at an altitude of 2,523 meters above sea level. The resort has a well-developed infrastructure – well-equipped tracks of varying complexity, a network of recreational facilities and hotels.

Slovakia
This small country owns a number of ski resorts, which are especially loved by Russian tourists. Such ski resorts in Slovakia have gained such popularity due to good recreation conditions, a high level of service, their technical characteristics and, most importantly, quite reasonable prices. Most tour operators recommend tourists to the resorts of the High and Low Tatras. High Tatras are best suited for beginners and a relaxing holiday with children. But for active skiers with experience more suitable Low Tatras.
Resort area High Tatras. Among the resorts of the High Tatras, the most famous are Tatranska Lomnica, Strebsko Pleso and Stary Smokovec.
Resort Tatranská Lomnitsa. It is considered the most popular winter resort of the High Tatras. The main slopes for skiing are in the area of ​​Skalkate Lake Pleso. Here at a height of 804 and 898 meters laid the line of the funicular.
Resort Strebske Pleso. This resort is located on the shores of the lake of the same name. Trails for skiing are located at altitudes from 1300 to 1915 meters. For lovers of winter holidays there are well prepared trails for beginners and for experienced skiers. Ski slopes are equipped with two chairlifts, three drag and one children’s ski lifts.
